The Gumz Family have been
established as exceptional hunters for many
generations.
They have developed and owned some
of the best waterfowl hunting ground in the
country. So well known, that the State of
Indiana purchased nearly 800 acres from them in
1982 to add to the Kankakee Fish and Wild Life
Area. Often this State owned game preserve is
called the Gumz Hunt Club.
Through time, the Gumz
Family has developed and maintained large areas
of hunting for fowl and deer alike. Trapping is
also a strong family tradition. These hunting
areas were part of a private hunting club that
had a substantial waiting list for an
invitation.
Kevin Gumz, owner of the
Kankakee Marsh Hunt Club LLC, has not only been
an avid hunter from his days as a youth, but
owns an excavating company that specialized in
Wetland Developments. He has designed
and built
wetlands for Ducks Unlimited, Inc. and Waterfowl
USA plus numerous hunting clubs and private
individuals. So needless to say, his hunting
grounds are first rate!
The next step was to take
this experience and fertile ground to the
discriminating hunter. Module hunting for deer
and waterfowl had been available on a limited
basis in the years past. Due to the huge
demand, the Kankakee Marsh Hunt Club was formed
to offer the best hunting available, sleeping
accommodations and a lodge that no one wants to
leave.
The new facilities are
second to none and designed with the total
hunting experience in mind. Over 1200 owned
acres have the best blinds, stands, pits and
layouts that can be found. Years of experience
have developed feeding and nesting areas that
keep the animals coming back year after year.
Strong family traditions,
good land and hunting management, and years of
success makes this venture the best hunting
experience available in the Midwest.
